Support Materials for Teachers

Open School BC works with BC teachers to create, write, edit and test resources. Our comprehensive courses, developed to BC Ministry of Education curriculum guidelines offer educators:

  • complete sequence and scope for a course
  • ideas for introducing topics
  • new classroom activities and practice exercises
  • different approaches to formal assessment

Many new courses have a Resource Package available for teachers that contain:

  • Complete course as a set of print modules
  • Accompanying set of blackline masters
  • Multimedia CD-ROM

Also available to teachers are course Teacher’s Guides that include:

  • tests with answer keys
  • answer keys to course formal assessments
  • ideas for different teaching environments or assessments
  • suggestions for additional resources

Many new courses have CD-ROMs with a collection of stand-alone multimedia objects. [link to features page]. The multimedia is designed to illustrate a concept, demonstrate a fact, or reinforce a topic in an engaging, interactive manner. Multimedia CD-ROMs are available in single-user and network versions for:

There is also a network CD-ROM available with a course selector application [link to features page] for assisting students with course planning for graduation.

Meeting the needs of students with different abilities and learning styles is easier if you have resources you can tailor to fit. Because Open School BC print and online courses are modular and self-directed, they can help you provide students with the learning experiences they need.
