The Medical Services Plan (MSP) insures medically required services provided by physicians and supplementary health care practitioners, laboratory services and diagnostic procedures. For information about financial assistance with prescription drug costs, go to PharmaCare.

Effective April 1, 2005, the Ministry of Health has contracted with MAXIMUS BC to deliver the operations of the Medical Services Plan and PharmaCare, after a year-long procurement process. The organization has a new name - Health Insurance BC - with a primary goal to improve service to the public, while ensuring the highest level of privacy protection.
