Minister of State for Mining Bill Bennett (right) and Mining Association of B.C. president and CEO Michael McPhie recognized efforts to promote sustainable development in the British Columbia mining sector during the 2006 Mining and Sustainability Award gala on Nov. 28, 2006. This year’s winner was Polaris Minerals Corporation, which was recognized for creating positive, mutually productive relationships with local communities and First Nations.

2006 OIL AND GAS RIGHTS SALES YIELD STRONG RESULTS
 
VICTORIA – The Dec. 13, 2006 sale of oil and gas rights in northeast British Columbia generated $26.4 million in bonus bids, bringing the total for 2006 to $630 million, Richard Neufeld, Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, announced.
