Skilled Workers
Applications are accepted for qualified foreign workers who will
be employed in skilled occupations that usually fall into Skill
Levels O, A or B of the
National Occupational Classification Matrix, excluding some
non-commercial and lower level occupations.
Managers (NOC Skill Level O)
Normal employment requirements:
A relevant university degree, professional designation, college
diploma or other management training, and proven management
experience.
Examples of eligible senior management occupations:
- Chief executive officer, chief financial officer,
vice-president (functional responsibility), controller, general
manager, executive director (functional responsibility)
Examples of eligible middle and other management occupations:
- Accommodation services manager, marketing manager,
production manager, research director, software development
manager
Examples of ineligible occupations: Managers in social
and community services, public administration, and retail trade
Professionals (NOC Skill Level A) Normal employment
requirements: A relevant university degree, professional
designation or 2-year college diploma, and several years of directly
related experience
International
Graduates do not require work experience

- Architects, Planners and Surveyors
- Audiologists and Speech Pathologists
- Biologists, Biochemistsand Microbiologists
- Chemists
- Computer Software and Interactive Media Developers
- Conference and Event Planners
- Dieticians and Nutritionists
- Engineers (All Fields)
- Financial and Investment Analysts
- Geologists and Geochemists
- Information Systems and Database Analysts
- Physicians and Surgeons
- Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists
- Pharmacists
- Registered Nurses
- University Professors and College Instructors
- Veterinarians
- Writers (Advertising, Interactive Media, and Technical)
Examples of ineligible occupations: Secondary and
elementary school teachers; clergy; probation officers; government
program officers/researchers; public librarians.
Technicians and Technologists (NOC Skill Level B)
Normal employment requirements:
A relevant university degree or 2-year college diploma, and several
years of directly related work experience
International
Graduates do not require work experience
Examples of eligible occupations:
- Aircraft Instrument and Avionics Mechanics
- Architectural Technicians and Technologists
- Computer and Information Systems Technicians
- Construction Estimators
- Engineering and Industrial Technicians/Technologists
- Mining Technologists
- Graphic Arts Technicians
- Health, Medical and Veterinary Technicians/Technologists
- Land Survey and Mapping Technicians/Technologists
- Licensed Practical Nurses
- Midwives
- Technical Sales Specialists (Wholesale)
Examples of ineligible occupations: Hairstylists and other
technical personal service occupations
Skilled Trades (NOC Skill Level B)
Normal employment requirements: 2 – 5 years of apprenticeship
training and apprenticeship or trades certification, and several
years of directly related work experience
If
a trade has no compulsory certification requirements, the BC PNP
will normally accept applications for workers who have a sufficient
combination of education, training, and experience. International
Graduates do not require work experience
Examples of eligible occupations:
- Aircraft Mechanics and Structural Repair Technicians
- Aquaculture, Nursery, and Greenhouse Managers
- Audio, Video, Motion Picture and Broadcasting Technicians
- Automotive and Heavy Equipment Mechanics
- Bricklayers, Tilesetters and Stone Masons
- Carpenters and Cabinetmakers
- Crane Operators, Drillers and Blasters
- Concrete Finishers
- Chefs
- Electricians and Telecom Line Workers
- Glaziers
- Ironworkers
- Machinists, Millwrights and Industrial Mechanics
- Plasterers and Drywall Installers
- Plumbers, Pipefitters and Gas Fitters
- Welders
Examples of ineligible occupations: Clerical,
administrative and financial supervisors; bookkeepers; secretaries;
paraprofessionals; upholsterers, tailors, jewelers; sales and
service supervisors; insurance and real estate brokers; operators in
manufacturing and processing without post-secondary qualifications.
