The BC HealthGuide Program provides reliable health information and advice that you can trust in many languages. This self-care program is available 24-hours every day to help you understand, manage and make decisions about your health.

BC HealthGuide handbook - Read the BC HealthGuide handbook for information on how to recognize and cope with common health concerns. Learn about how to prevent illness, home treatment and care options, and when you should see a health professional. You can find topics relevant to older adults throughout the handbook.

Get your free BC HealthGuide handbook in English, French, Chinese and Punjabi.

Pick up your handbook at these locations:

• English handbooks are available at your local pharmacy or Government Agent's Office.
• Chinese or Punjabi handbooks are available at many community or multicultural organizations, temples or English Language Services for Adults providers. Click on and print a Chinese and Punjabi poster or an English poster to help distribute the handbooks in your organization or community.
• French handbooks are available through your local francophone organization.

BC HealthGuide handbooks are available free of charge only to British Columbia residents and organizations helping to distribute these in their community.

BC NurseLine - Call BC NurseLine to speak to a registered nurse 24/7 or a pharmacist from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. every day - with translation services available in over 130 languages. Please wait for the recorded disclaimer message and a nurse will answer your call - ask for translation services in the language that you prefer.

Dial-A-Dietitian - If you have nutrition questions call Dial-A-Dietitian to speak with a registered dietitian available Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm. An allergy dietitian is available Wednesday to Friday 9:00am - 4:30pm. Dietitians offer confidential nutrition information and advice, and guide you to nutrition services in your community. TTY available for deaf and hearing-impaired, and translation services available on request in over 130 languages.

BC HealthGuide OnLine - Click on this website at www.bchealthguide.org for a world of current, medically approved information on over 3,000 health topics, tests, procedures and resources. Information is available in English.

BC HealthFiles - Find fact sheets on BC's latest public health concerns, plus safety and other tips, on BC HealthGuide OnLine or at your local health unit. Click here for translated files available in Chinese, Punjabi, French and other languages.

Other Products - The BC HealthGuide Program undertook a pilot project to develop a series of information videos for BC's Farsi-speaking community, which aired on local multicultural channels. Click here to view the BC HealthGuide videos in Farsi.
