The nomination period for the 2007/08 Premier’s Awards is now closed. The 109 nominations are currently being adjudicated and judged. The short-listed nominations will be announced in mid December.

Regional awards will be presented during celebration events to be held in:

• Lower Mainland - Vancouver – Tuesday, January 15th
• North - Prince George – Thursday, January 31st
• Vancouver Island - location to be determined – Monday, February 4th (tentative)
• Interior - Kamloops – Wednesday, February 6th

The provincial Premier’s Awards celebration is scheduled for Monday March 10th at the Victoria Conference Centre. For more information on the awards celebrations contact your Premier’s Awards Ministry contact.

Purpose and Operation

The Premier’s Innovation & Excellence Awards Program supports the government's vision for the British Columbia Public Service: To be a leader in Canada, and recognized internationally, for public service excellence.

2007/08 will be the Premier's Awards' fourth year and the first to feature a series of regional award ceremonies prior to the culminating provincial event in Victoria.

The nomination deadline for 2007/08 is Monday, November 5, 2007, at 1:00 p.m.

As the public service’s most prestigious recognition, the Premier’s Awards:

• Showcase the best examples of innovation and excellence;
• Strengthen pride and identity among employees internally; and
• Help build the external reputation of the public service.

The Premier’s Awards also highlight and reinforce progressive management practices which help provide the pre-conditions for innovation, excellence and high performance.

The 3rd Premier's Innovation and Excellence Awards Ceremony and Dinner was held Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at the Victoria Conference Centre. Almost 600 employees, elected officials, and guests were in attendance.
