Premier Gordon Campbell speaks at the 2003 B.C. Biotechnology Awards in Vancouver, March 24. The event celebrates excellence and innovation in the biotechnology industry in B.C., which is the fastest-growing biotechnology centre in Canada. To support the industry, the government has committed more than $900 million to increase technology research and training at B.C. colleges and universities.

$3-million global marketing network. March 21, 2003
Premier Gordon Campbell and Forests Minister Michael de Jong joined industry and community leaders and international officials today to launch a $3-million global marketing network to promote B.C.’s world-class forest practices and products. [news release]

B.C. Market Outreach Network. March 21, 2003
Premier Gordon Campbell outlines the new strategy to promote B.C.'s leadership in sustainable forestry in key international markets. Using the Internet, print materials, promotional DVDs and international advertising, the B.C. Market Outreach Network will provide global customers with factual information about B.C. forest practices. The $3-million Market Outreach Network is part of the government's $20-million investment in forestry marketing and product development.

Premier's Athletic Awards March 6, 2003
Several of B.C.'s finest athletes receive Premier's Athletic Awards from Premier Gordon Campbell and Community, Aboriginal and Women's Services Minister George Abbott, March 6th in Vancouver. British Columbia athletes participating in the Canada Winter Games in New Brunswick also participated in the ceremony via video link.

$336 million in transportation improvements. March 5, 2003
Premier Gordon Campbell (right) joins Prime Minister Jean Chrétien (middle) and federal Natural Resources Minister Herb Dhaliwal (left) to announce $336 million in transportation improvements, including additional dollars for Kicking Horse Canyon that will bring total investments in the Trans-Canada Highway corridor through the Rockies to $206 million. Premier Campbell outlines how the federal and provincial governments will invest $211 million in 16 projects to improve border crossing infrastructure in the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley. An additional $125 million will be invested to replace the 10-Mile (Park) Bridge in the Kicking Horse Canyon as part of the provincial government's commitment to work with the federal government on $670 million in improvements needed to that section of the Trans-Canada Highway.
