The expansion will build a second power plant at the dam that will generate an additional 125 megawatts of power — enough to supply 38,000 homes. Premier Campbell details the two highway improvement projects, including: $3.75 million to realign and improve safety on 1.6 kilometres of Highway 5 at Preacher Hill between Barriere and Little Fort; and $12.96 million to four-lane 4.2 kilometres of Highway 1 between Broderick Creek and Ford Road. To date, the province and the federal government have committed $219 million to upgrade the Highway 1 corridor through B.C.
