the past 30 years, Debra Foxcroft has led advancements in aboriginal
child welfare. As a consultant and chair of the Vancouver Island
Aboriginal Transition Team, she is spearheading a new model of child
welfare. Foxcroft developed and directed the first delegated First
Nations child and family service in British Columbia, serving the
Nuu-chah-Nulth Tribal Council. Foxcroft co-ordinated a valuable
Indian Child and Family Services Standards Project on culturally
appropriate standards, which has been used nationwide. She chaired
the First Nations Summit Child Welfare Committee for nine years,
providing strong leadership and negotiating on behalf of the Chiefs
engaged in the Treaty Process.
