NEW AGREEMENT HELPS B.C. & ALBERTA COLLEGES ADDRESS SKILLS SHORTAGE


Premier Gordon Campbell announced a new agreement that will see colleges and technical institutes in B.C. and Alberta work together to help train more of the skilled workers needed by two of Canada's strongest provincial economies. [News release]

HEALTH AUTHORITIES TO GET $25M TO REDUCE WAIT TIMES
 
VANCOUVER – Patients in British Columbia will benefit from hundreds more elective hip and knee surgeries, as well as other diagnostic and surgical procedures, with an additional $25 million being made available to the province’s health authorities, announced Health Minister George Abbott.

VICTORIA – The first two of 16 regional Conversation on Health forums will kick off in Kamloops and Surrey in February 2007, announced Health Minister George Abbott, as the provincial government released information on all the regional public forum dates.

2006 OIL AND GAS RIGHTS SALES YIELD STRONG RESULTS
 
VICTORIA – The Dec. 13, 2006 sale of oil and gas rights in northeast British Columbia generated $26.4 million in bonus bids, bringing the total for 2006 to $630 million, Richard Neufeld, Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, announced.
