Canola, Flax and Field Pea Disease Resistance Ratings
This publication provides disease ratings for registered varieties of oilseed and pulse crops.
Resistance to diseases can be an important consideration in the selection of an appropriate
variety, but there are many other agronomic factors to consider as well. Not all of the varieties listed will be suitable for every region of British Columbia.

Canola - Alternaria
There are currently no canola varieties that are resistant to Alternaria stem and pod spot.
However, Brassica rapa (= B. campestris) cultivars are much more susceptible than B. napus cultivars.

Powdery mildew resistance has
been rated as ‘very good’ for the following cultivars: AC Melfort , CDC Acer,
CDC Bronco, CDC Golden, CDC Handel, CDC Minuet, CDC Montero, CDC Mozart, CDC
Sonata, Cutlass, DS-Admiral, DS-Stalwarth, Eclipse, Miser, SW Parade, SW Salute,
and Topeka.
Escape from powdery mildew disease may occur by seeding early and by planting
early maturing cultivars.
