Distributed Learning

Distributed Learning (DL) gives both rural and urban students in British Columbia improved access, more choice, and flexibility to learn outside classroom schedules. Distributed Learning occurs when you are learning at a distance from your teacher, whether you are at home, at school or at another learning facility.

This is not to be confused with Homeschooling, where the parent or guardian is the teacher and is responsible for the child’s education. There are many differences between Distributed Learning vs. Homeschooling.

If you are a Grade 10-12 student living in BC, you can take one or all of your courses through LearnNow BC. LearnNow BC is an interactive, one-stop website with a list of nearly 50 public distributed learning schools. Many of these schools can offer complete K-12 education, while others focus on specific grades.

The Course Finder will help you search for the courses you need and sign up for the course(s) that best match(es) your learning style. There are courses that allow you to start at any point during the calendar year and are completed at your own pace.

The Academic Advising Centre provides counselling on post-secondary education and career requirements. Registered students can also access online tutoring services to improve their marks. The tutoring services are currently available for Grade 10 science and Grade 10 math.
