Public Consultation on Water Management

Québec, January 26, 1999 – The Minister of the Environment, Paul Bégin, made public today a financial assistance program of $250,000 to encourage non-profit organizations to participate in the consultation process on water management in Québec.

Administered by the Ministère de l’Environnement, the program is intended for private non-profit organizations having their head office in the province and concerned by the water management issue. Each eligible local or regional organization is entitled to a maximum of $1,500. For organizations in remote areas, this amount can be extended to $2,000. Provincial organizations will be allowed a maximum of $3,000 each.

All of the organizations are requested to send in their application for financial assistance by Monday, March 15, 1999, at 5 pm.

For information and a copy of the application form, the organizations must contact the Service des renseignements généraux of the Ministère de l’Environnement at (418) 521-3830, for the Québec City area, or 1 800 561-1616, elsewhere in the province. They may also contact the Ministère's regional offices.
