Raj Chouhan was elected as the MLA for Burnaby-Edmonds on May 17, 2005.

Raj serves as Opposition Critic for Mental Health.

Raj was the founding president of the Canadian Farmworkers' Union and served as a Director of the Hospital Employees Union. Raj also served as a member of the Labour Relations Board of BC and the Arbitration Bureau of BC.

A founding member of the BC Organization to Fight Racism, Raj worked relentlessly in promoting human rights and racial equality. He has served as the Vice President of BC Human Rights Defenders since 2003.

Raj taught courses on Human Rights, the BC Labour Code and collective bargaining since 1987.

Raj and his wife, Inder, and their two children, Amrita and Anu, live in Burnaby.
