SWAMP POINT AGGREGRATE MINES RECEIVES PERMIT

STEWART - Minister of State for Mining Bill Bennett (second from left) presents a Mines Act permit to Director Ken Carter of Vancouver-based Ascot Resources Ltd. while Ascot Project Manager Hans Smit and consultant Bruce McLean look on. The permit will allow the company to begin development of an aggregate quarry and ship-loading facility at Swamp Point on the Portland Canal. Initial capital investment is estimated at $27.5 million and the facility will have a maximum production capacity of 3.3 million tonnes of aggregate per year.
