Court
Services Online Projects
Court
Services Online (CSO) is an initiative of the Court Services
Branch of the Ministry of Attorney General and the British
Columbia Judiciary.
CSO
provides electronic court services to the public via the
Internet, offering clients the ability to search court files
and file court documents at any registry in the province
virtually 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The
core services offered are:
E-search
There
is a $6.00 charge per search. For this $6.00 fee, you can
view the details for any one of the files in your search
results. You can refine your search to narrow down the results
before choosing a file to view.
Users
now have the ability to purchase copies of documents that
are currently viewable through CSO e-Search. Users will
first need to e-Search the file to determine if the document
they want is on file and available to them. They will be
charged the $6.00 CSO service fee for this search. For each
document they decide to purchase during a search, they will
be charged an additional $10.00. Click for instructions
and further details on Purchase Documents
Online through e-Search.
As access
is based on publicly-available information, some files may
offer you only limited information, and in some cases, none
at all.
Please
note this service does not provide access to any Provincial
Family or Supreme Adoption files. Also, e-search does not
provide access to any of the actual documents within a file.
For
more information about e-search, data/file access limitations,
and how to use the service, go to the CSO
webpage.
View
the Daily Court Lists
Available
now, daily CSO court lists are provided free of charge and
are displayed in PDF format. To view a list select the level
of court (Provincial or Supreme) and the location for the
level (Small Claims or Chambers) from the drop down list
provided. Court locations that have scheduled sittings for
that day only will be displayed. Files with access restrictions
(i.e. divorce, family law) will display only the file number.
The system displays the court lists for the current day
only and does not archive past dates. Court lists for the
following day will be displayed after 6:00am PST.
E-filing
Available
in 2006, this service will allow users to electronically
file court documents in the British Columbia Provincial
and Supreme Courts and the Court of Appeal. Click here for
the latest news on the status
of e-filing.
