Child and Youth Officer for British Columbia


The Child and Youth Officer for British Columbia has the mandate to support children, youth and families to access relevant government services, to observe independently those services, and to advise government about how to improve them.

Jane Morley, Q.C. was appointed in 2003 and is the current officer. Her authority comes from a provincial law, the Office for Children and Youth Act. Under Section 6 of the Act, at the request of the Attorney General, the Child and Youth Officer investigates matters within the scope of the Act.
