Immigration Resources

This website provides an overview of all programs and services in British Columbia of interest to communities creating regional immigration strategies.

Each year, British Columbia receives approximately 40,000 new immigrants, the second highest per capita ratio in Canada, second only to Ontario. Each of these new arrivals brings with them a host of expertise, innovation and language skills, and helps showcase the vibrant multicultural tapestry of our province. The Province of British Columbia and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) have jointly developed this resource for communities, municipal leaders and governments interested in developing mechanisms to more evenly distribute the many benefits immigration can bring to all B.C. communities.

This joint interest is formally reflected in the Agreement for Canada-British Columbia Co-operation on Immigration and has been the spirit behind strong partnerships and an open dialogue on these issues between the Province and CIC.

The information on this site is organized as follows:

  • Government of Canada Programs: The Government of Canada establishes national policies and standards for immigration and is responsible for admission and control of all immigrants to Canada. Various federal departments provide funding and information programs related to immigration.

  • Government of British Columbia Programs: The Government of British Columbia works in cooperation with municipalities and community organizations on a variety of programs to provide essential services for immigrants, and to promote immigration in key sectors.

  • Services by Region: A clickable map of community and non-profit agencies that provide regional immigration services or resources. This listing also includes community colleges and universities with international education programs.

  • Services by Provider: Includes links to key agencies providing services and resources for  immigrants and those interested in immigration issues in B.C.

  • Index of All Services: A listing of all organizations on this site categorized by the service they provide (e.g. Health, Language Services).

Although intended to be comprehensive, this guide to immigration programs and services is not exhaustive. We will be continuing to develop these resources over the coming months. If there is information that you would like us to include, please contact us.
