Management Services Branch


The Management Services Branch (MSB) serves:

  • Ministry of Attorney General
  • Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General
  • Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation
  • related Agencies, Boards and Commissions
  • It also provides the strategic link between staff and government's central service agencies.
MSB is comprised of six divisions:
  • Facilities Services
  • Finance and Administration
  • Information Technology Services
  • Privacy, Information and Records Management
  • Risk Management Division
  • Strategic Human Resources Services

Facilities Services Division, working with Accomodation and Real Estate Services, ensures the effective and efficient provision of appropriate accomodation in accordance with approved space standards and ministry budgets.

Finance and Administration provides a wide range of financial services including: budget development and monitoring; revenue planning; accounting and financial reporting; payment processing; financial control and systems support; and support for procurement and contract and risk management.

Information and Technology Services, working in cooperation with ministry branches and government’s central shared services agency, provides information management and effective technology solutions for the two ministries.

Privacy, Information and Records Management is responsible for managing program compliance with the Document Disposal Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. PIRMD services include processing of access to information requests, providing advice on the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, and overall records management.

Risk Management Division is responsible for coordinating and advising on risk management initiatives, security, business continuity planning and vulnerabilities arising from general branch operations and special projects; training/educating on risk management strategies, policies and procedures; and promoting risk management best practices.

Strategic Human Resources Services, working in partnership with the BC Public Service Agency (BCPSA) and Leadership Centre, ensures the integration of both corporate and ministry HR plans into its client’s business operations. The division also negotiates, manages and monitors service level agreements between the two ministries and the BCPSA. This work supports the creation and maintenance of positive, responsive work environments that will attract, develop and sustain a productive workforce.
