Provincial Sales Tax Review

Update

Please note that the consultation portion of the Provincial Sales Tax Review is now complete. We are currently in the process of analyzing the submissions we have received and preparing recommendations for consideration by the Minister of Small Business and Revenue and Minister of Finance in preparation for Budget 2007.

British Columbians often comment that the provincial sales tax is too complex, seems unfair and creates business impediments. The government wants to hear about these concerns and is conducting a comprehensive review of British Columbia's provincial sales tax.

Over the past several months we have been consulting with British Columbians across every region of the province to discuss how government can develop revenue neutral options for changes to provincial sales tax policies, legislation and related administrative processes to streamline, simplify and enhance fairness of the tax.
