Every year the Congratulatory Messages Program coordinates thousands of official greetings for the residents of British Columbia on significant birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

Please note that nine weeks notice is required for greetings. While we are pleased to accept requests with less than the required notice, we cannot guarantee that the messages will be provided by the celebration date.

Whether it is parents celebrating a 25th wedding anniversary or a grandparent celebrating a 75th birthday, congratulatory messages are available, upon request, from the following officials:

Eligibility


Residents are eligible to receive greetings from the above noted officials. The table below indicates which birthdays and anniversaries qualify for congratulatory messages from various officials, as well as the type of verification required (if any).

100th + at five year intervals.
*Proof required (e.g. birth certificate).

60th + at five year intervals.
*Proof required (e.g. marriage certificate)

Prime Minister 75 + 25 +
Lieutenant Governor 90 + 50 +
Premier of British Columbia 75 + 25 +
Leader of the Official Opposition of British Columbia 75 + 25 +

Request a Greeting

To receive a greeting you must fill out a Congratulatory Message Request form and return it to the Protocol and Events Branch. Please contact us to have a copy mailed or faxed to you. The form is also available electronically:

  • Online fill-in version
  • PDF (91 KB - Adobe Acrobat required) format that can be printed, filled-in manually, and then mailed or faxed.

* Please note that nine weeks advance notice is required for processing to ensure you receive the message on time.
