BC Mental Health Information Line

The British Columbia Mental Health Information Line puts free information about mental health and mental illness at your fingertips. Anyone can use it, 24 hours a day.

Call 604-669-7600 in the Lower Mainland, or 1-800-661-2121 elsewhere in British Columbia.

What You Can Expect

You can learn about symptoms, causes, treatments, support groups and publications for the following mental illnesses:

  • Anxiety disorders (phobias)
  • Depression
  • Eating-related disorders
  • Manic depression
  • Schizophrenia

How to use the BC's Mental Health Information Line

Just call the information line. Select the message you want by pressing the corresponding number on your telephone key pad. Or stay on the line to ask the line operator for assistance. Once you are on the line, you can listen to the entire message or move on to other topics.

Brochures may be ordered at no cost by contacting the line operator Monday to Friday from 09:00 - 16:00 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Pacific Time.

The information line is not responsible for the competency of individuals listed on the line.

BC Alcohol and Drug Information & Referral Service

The British Columbia Alcohol and Drug Information and Referral Service is available for people across the province needing help with any kind of substance abuse issues. This service is staffed 24 hours a day to provide information and referral to education, prevention and treatment services and regulatory agencies.

BC NurseLine

The BC NurseLine is available for people across the province. Registered nurses provide health information and advice through a toll-free telephone line, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and a pharmacist is available 5 p.m. to 9 a.m., 7 days a week. This service is also available for those who are deaf or hearing impaired. Translation services are available in 130 languages.
