REVISED SHARED LEARNINGS - INTEGRATING BC ABORIGINAL CONTENT K-10

The Shared Learnings resource guide was developed in 1998 as a tool for integrating Aboriginal content into all subject areas from kindergarten through Grade 10.  The guide has now been revised to ensure resources and references are up-to-date, accurate and relevant.  Copies are available for purchasing from Government Publications Services or you can print a copy .


FIRST NATIONS JURISDICTION OVER EDUCATION

On July 5, 2006, representatives of British Columbia's First Nations and the federal and provincial governments signed agreements recognizing First Nations jurisdiction over First Nations jurisdiction over First Nations K-12 education. LEARNING AND CAREER PATHWAYS

In December 2005, Edudata Canada completed their report on the findings of their research, Learning and Career Pathways: Tracking the Education Career Path and Employment Status of BC Teachers of Aboriginal Ancestry. The report makes recommendations for increasing the number of qualified Aboriginal teachers in British Columbia and for improving data collection in these areas. The ministries of Education, Advanced Education, and Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation, who jointly contracted Edudata to undertake the project, will share this research and recommendations with stakeholders and education partners.
