Vancouver – December 1, 2006 Minister of Employment and Income Assistance, Claude Richmond proclaims on behalf of the Government of B.C. December 2006 as "Persons with Disabilities Month".

The announcement was made at The Vancouver Board of Trade’s "Beyond Barriers: Celebration of International Day of Disabled Persons" event. Richmond holds up proclamation with Frank S. Borowicz, QC, Chairman, Vancouver Board of Trade and Co-chair, Spirit of Vancouver. [News release] [Proclamation]

VICTORIA – Community agencies throughout B.C. that provide hands-on cooking and nutritional skill-building programs for adults and families living with limited incomes can now apply to the Directorate of Agencies for School Health (DASH) for a one-time funding grant, Employment and Income Assistance Minister Claude Richmond announced.

AGENCIES CHOSEN TO SERVE MOST VULNERABLE
 
VICTORIA – Contracts worth $7.5 million have been awarded to 32 community-based service providers to deliver life-skills and advocacy services to the most vulnerable income assistance clients as part of the Employment and Income Assistance Ministry’s new Community Assistance Program (CAP).
