Qualifications
 

The time extensions for payment of farm land property taxes are given to properties that:

  • produce seasonal crops
  • are property class 09 (farmland)
  • have a fully paid property tax account; and
  • whose owner is unable to pay property taxes by the July 2 due date.

Approved applications extend the July 2 property tax due date, without penalty, until October 31st of the year. Click here for payment options.

 
How To Apply
 

There are two ways you can apply for the farm land property tax payment extension:

  1. Contact your local Government Agents office and request a copy of the Farm Extension Application. Once completed, send the application to the Surveyor of Taxes office. To submit an application online, click here or
  1. Send a request to the Surveyor of Taxes office to extend your current year rural property tax deadline to October 31. Be sure to include your name, telephone number, and return address.

No matter how you apply, you must ensure that you indicate the account number(s) of the properties for which a time extension is being requested. Also, it is very important that your application is postmarked on or before the property tax due date of July 2, or your application will be automatically denied.

You only need to apply once for the farm extension. The extension is automatically renewed each year after the initial application.
