Protocol and Events Branch provides leadership and coordination in Government ceremonial, protocol and diplomatic activities, work that is vital to the well-being and positive perceptions, both nationally and internationally, of British Columbia. Activities include:

- advising Government on all matters of protocol and precedence;
- planning and conducting official ceremonies such as Opening of the Legislature and Cabinet Swearing-In ceremonies;
- planning and conducting official visits to the Province of the Sovereign, members of the Royal Family, the Governor General, heads of state and government, foreign ministers, heads of diplomatic missions and other VIPs;
- acting as the principal Government contact for British Columbia's Consular Corps;
- coordinating wedding anniversary and birthday congratulatory messages from The Queen, the Premier and others.
- managing the Order of British Columbia and the Government Long Service Award programs; and
- providing event and conference secretariat support to the Premier's Office and Government Ministries.
