Planning Forest Planning guides future management and sustainable use of
public land and resources throughout the province. It often involves a wide spectrum
of interests including federal, provincial and local governments, public groups, First
Nations organizations and private industry. Through forest planning, people's values
and desires are translated into management objectives, strategies and guidelines for land
and resources within defined geographic areas. Much of the Crown land area in BC
supports many resource uses. Planning processes help participants to balance and harmonize
competing uses. Building long term agreement between people who hold differing values
and interests is the mainstay of resource planning.
