Prince
George Timber Supply Area
The Prince George TSA, located in the north central interior of B.C., covers
approximately 7.5 million hectares. The TSA includes the communities of Prince
George, Fort St. James and Vanderhoof.
Current Timber Supply Review
The current AAC for the Prince George TSA is 14,944,000 cubic metres,
effective October 1, 2004. This AAC will remain in effect until a new AAC is
determined, which must take place within five years of this determination, unless
the re-determination date is formally postponed according to the provisions of
Section 8 of the Forest Act.
The current AAC determination concludes an expedited timber supply review that
was conducted by the Ministry of Forests for the Quesnel, Lakes and Prince George
TSAs. The review included an assessment of the timber supply that has been
attacked, or is at risk of attack by mountain pine beetles in the Prince George
TSA. The results of this assessment are summarized in a Public Discussion
Paper that was released for public review on June 10, 2004. The Chief Forester's rationale for AAC determination was released on
September 14, 2004.
