Welcome to Mackenzie, British Columbia!

The Mackenzie Chamber of Commerce actively promotes the interests of its member businesses and the community; and provides a range of services to member organizations. More and more, business, government and professional organizations are discovering that working with a dynamic and pro-active chamber and its network of members brings a range of positive outcomes for their activities in Mackenzie and beyond.

Our Mission

To promote and support business; to improve trade and commerce; to enhance civic and social welfare in Mackenzie and area.

Profile

The Chamber of Commerce in Mackenzie has been in operation since March 21, 1984.  It was originally started in 1981, but lack of interest caused it to disband.  In 1984, Ron Terlesky of Terlesky Braithwaite and Janzen (Certified General Accountants) reformed the Chamber of Commerce.

Today, the Chamber plays an active role in community business issues and creates a very special support system for its members.  Its direct link with both the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the British Columbia Chamber of Commerce accredits the Chamber as a valuable member.

The Mackenzie Chamber of Commerce is also part of the entrepreneur movement in Mackenzie through Community Futures.  More than a few businesses in Mackenzie have taken advantage of this opportunity to start their own businesses.

The Chamber members meet every second Thursday at the Merabello Restaurant for a monthly general meeting.  They meet to discuss many pressing issues facing Canadians today, not only in business, but also social, economic, and political issues.

The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is made up of a group of volunteers elected to be Executive by the Chamber members at the Annual General Meeting.  The Board includes a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and an important group of directors for education, economic development, community service, and liaisons to industry, ministry, the District of Mackenzie, and labour unions.

The Chamber of Commerce is responsible for the Annual Showcase held the first weekend of May every year at the Mackenzie Leisure Services.  It also hosts an Annual Fundraiser Auction in November, just in time for the holidays!

The Chamber also plans and prepares the All-Candidates Forum, an opportunity for delegates and delegate hopefuls (municipal, provincial, and federal) to discuss their issues, plans and campaigning strategy.  The Chamber also hosts Civic Night, a chance for residents of Mackenzie to recognize various people or businesses in town who have demonstrated exemplary service; whether Customer Service, Volunteer Work, Business of the Year, or Citizen of the Year.

Thank you, Mackenzie for all your support to the Chamber of Commerce, we hope to continue to provide Mackenzie with the service and designation that it has provided us for twenty years.
