Valley Timber Supply Area
The Robson Valley TSA is located within the Rocky Mountain Trench south of Prince
George to Jasper National Park. It covers approximately 1.24 million hectares and includes
the communities of McBride, Dunster, Valemount and Crescent Spur.
The current allowable
annual cut (AAC) for the Robson Valley TSA, effective August 4, 2006, is
536,000 cubic metres per year and includes a 6,000 cubic metre partition
attributable to deciduous–leading stands.
This AAC will remain in effect until a new AAC is determined, which must
take place within five years of this determination, unless the
redetermination date is formally postponed according to the provisions
of Section 8 of the Forest Act.
Current Timber Supply Review
The third timber supply review (TSR 3) was initiated in 2003. A
key component of the TSR is the preparation of a timber supply
analysis. Under the
Defined
Forest Area Management (DFAM) initiative, DFAM participants in the
TSA are collectively responsible for completing the Robson Valley TSA timber supply analysis.
