About 500 international students from China and 100 mothers from the local Chinese community participated in the event. Each of the mothers cooked a home-made dish for the students to show their love and care for these foreign students. Minster Taylor took along red bean pudding. In Chinese, 'red bean' can also be called the 'nostalgia bean,' and symbolizes those loved and missed when away from home. The minister said she hoped this sweet and heart-warming desert would soothe the loneliness and homesickness of these international students from China.
