Industry Training
The Industry Training
Authority (ITA) is the provincial government agency with responsibility
for apprenticeships and industry training programs in B.C. The ITA is
working to support existing apprenticeship options, and to identify new
training approaches. This will lead to a training system that provides
expanded opportunities for British Columbians, and better meets industry
and labour market needs.

On this site you will find general information

website.
Apprenticeship is paid work-based training combined with
post-secondary education. Apprentices spend about 80 per cent of their
time learning skills on the job (under the direction of a highly skilled
journeyperson) and about 20 per cent of their time learning in a classroom
setting. To learn more about apprenticeship, go to the apprenticeship
section of the Industry Training Authority website.
Secondary School Apprenticeship (SSA) is a career program
that provides students with the opportunity to begin an apprenticeship
while still in high school, and earn high school credits for doing so.
To learn more about the Secondary School Apprenticeship program, go
to the Secondary
School Apprenticeship section of the Industry Training Authority
website.
Upon successful completion of an apprenticeship in B.C.
you will earn your certificate of apprenticeship, and (if applicable)
your interprovincial or Red
Seal endorsement. Having your certification or ticket identifies
you as a skilled worker who has demonstrated defined abilities, and
will enhance your career options. To learn more about B.C. credentials
and certification, go to the Apprentices
and New
B.C. Residents sections of the Industry Training Authority website.
Accelerated
Credit Enrolment in Industry Training (ACE IT)
The ACE IT program allows high school students to earn
credit towards their high school graduation as well as credit towards
the technical training component of an apprenticeship or industry training
program. To learn more about ACE IT, go to the ACE
IT section of the Industry Training Authority website.
