Code on Introductions and Transfer of Aquatic Organisms |
- The federal and provincial/territorial
governments have developed a process to deal with requests for
introductions or transfer of aquatic organisms which will protect aquatic
ecosystems while encouraging responsible use of aquatic resources for the
benefit of Canadians. The National Code on Introductions and Transfer
of Aquatic Organisms has been finalized and is available upon request
through Saskatchewan Environment, Fish and Wildlife Branch, Regina or www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/science/aquaculture/code/prelim_e.htm. |

Operation Burrowing Owl |
- The program is designed to protect burrowing owl habitat through voluntary habitat protection agreements with landowners. Participants sign an agreement to preserve the owl's nesting area (or former nesting area for those who no longer have owls) by not breaking the land or unduly disturbing the birds. |
Rare Plant Rescue |
- The program is a unique voluntary
stewardship program for landowners with rare plants or rare plant habitat.
Participants sign a non-binding agreement to voluntarily preserve the rare
plant habitat, while continuing their regular land use practices, by not
cultivating the grassland habitat. |
