MAJOR CHANGES TO AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT WEBSITE
Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food has redesigned its website to better meet the needs of its farmer and agribusiness clients. The new site replaces technology and design concepts that had been in place since 1998. "Our clients' needs have changed over the past eight years," Wartman said. "They told us that the navigational structure and features of our old website no longer met the standards they expect. We needed to deal with those concerns, and position ourselves for the future. "We want our website to be a valuable tool for the agriculture industry, helping our clients manage their operations and achieve success in their businesses," Wartman said. The redesigned website's new front page also features a series of "gateways" - pages that provide a single access point to all information the department has on each element of the crop and livestock sectors – cereals, oilseeds, pork, beef and more. "Our testing indicates this new structure works well for clients," Wartman said. "It should be easy to use - even for someone who doesn't always use a computer. That being said, we will be looking for feedback on how to make the site better after people have had some time to try it out." The department already has plans in the works for a number of interactive features – including a new subscription service that allows clients to tailor their experience to the information they want. "We are committed to making sure that Saskatchewan farmers, agribusiness and investors have the tools they need – such as this new website – to succeed in Saskatchewan," Wartman said. "By providing the tools, and an environment that encourages economic growth in our province, we will make life better for Saskatchewan families and improve opportunities for our youth." The address for the new Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food website is www.agr.gov.sk.ca.-30-
