Pat Atkinson was born in Biggar and received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree and Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan. She is an active member of her community, having served in leadership roles in several different community organizations.
Pat was principal and teacher-therapist with the Radius Community Education Centre in Saskatoon prior to her election to the Legislative Assembly in 1986. She has now been re-elected in four straight elections.
Pat was first appointed to cabinet as Minister of Social Services in 1992 and was subsequently appointed Minister of Education in 1993. On November 21, 2003, Pat was appointed Minister Responsible for the Crown Management Board, PSC, Immigration, and Deputy Government House Leader. On February 3, 2006, Pat was appointed Minister of Advanced Education and Employment, Minister Responsible for Immigration, and Minister Responsible for PSC.
In addition to these duties Pat is focused on serving her constituency, acting as their voice in the legislature.
