Thinking About Exporting?

Is your company ready to step into the international marketplace? Exporting does not need to be a complicated or difficult task. Sometimes getting started is the hardest part. You may wish to consider a few factors before you decide you're ready to export, such as: Is your organization committed to the long-term and motivated by international market opportunities? How competitive will your product or service be in an international market? Are your financial, production and human resources in order? Do you have a sound approach to marketing that will work internationally?

Getting Started

On the following pages, you will find a series of questions about the many facets of exporting. Taking a few moments to consider the questions outlined below to help you evaluate your company's level of preparedness to do business in an export market. The questions are organized under four separate Exporter Attributes, which have shown to be key factors for success in international markets. Considering these questions is the first step in evaluating your company's export preparedness, and they will help prepare you for your next step - discussing your export plans with a trade commissioner.
