Harvey Brooks:

Harvey was appointed Deputy Minister of Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food, effective June 1, 2006. He has previously served the Government of Saskatchewan as Deputy Minister of Government Relations, Deputy Minister of Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation, and Deputy Minister of Rural Revitalization.

Harvey has extensive experience in the agriculture industry in Western Canada, working with agricultural cooperatives and group marketing and bargaining institutions. He has served in a variety of positions, including Vice-president of Member Relations and Director of Policy and Economic Research, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. Harvey was also the inaugural Cooperative Chair in Agricultural Marketing and Business at the University of Alberta, focusing on teaching and research in the areas of cooperatives, group marketing and alternative business institutions. Prior to that Harvey was head of the Corporate Policy Group at the Canadian Wheat Board.
He has served as a consultant for a variety of firms in the agricultural industry.

Harvey received his M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Saskatchewan, and his Doctorate in Economics from Iowa State University. He was raised on a mixed farming operation in Rosthern, Saskatchewan.
