Saskatchewan producers grew pea varieties on over 1 million ha in Saskatchewan
in 2004. It has been a leading alternative crop as farmers move to diversify crop
production.
In 2005, almost 2.7 M ac of peas were planted in Saskatchewan, producing over
2.4 M tonnes.
