The Research and Statistics Unit at CMEC coordinates CMEC's participation in the Canadian Education Statistics Council (CESC) and in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)'s international indicator program. The unit also manages other education research projects initiated by CMEC, coordinates research-related events, and responds to enquiries relating to research and data.
CESC is a partnership between CMEC and Statistics Canada. Since 1989, CESC has been working to improve the quality and comparability of Canadian education data and to provide information about education that can inform policy development. CESC has two main programs, the Pan-Canadian Education Indicators Program (PCEIP) and the Pan-Canadian Education Research Agenda (PCERA).
The Government Education Research Network (GERN) provides links to education research available on provincial and territorial Web sites, as well as the CMEC Web site and that of Statistics Canada.
