Repeal of Section 67 of the
Canadian Human Rights Act

Canada's New Government has introduced legislation to repeal section 67 of the Canadian Human Rights Act which prevents persons, often Aboriginal women and persons living or working on reserves, from making complaints of discrimination arising from actions taken or decisions made pursuant to the Indian Act.

This Government is committed to ensuring the fundamental rights of all Aboriginal people, by providing them with the same access to human rights protections as all Canadians. This Government is also committed to making progress on Aboriginal issues, and improving opportunities that will deliver real results.
