Institutional Control Management Framework

The Management Framework and background paper proposes a detailed Institutional Control Management Framework for the long-term management of decommissioned mine/mill properties for public consideration and comment. The proposed framework responds to what we have heard from industry, environmental organizations and Northerners - that a clear, prescribed process is needed to guide the management of decommissioned mine/mill properties on Crown lands.

Environmental Monitoring Program finds Dioxins and Furans in Prince Albert Last modified: December 18, 2006
Saskatchewan Environment, in co-operation with the City of Prince Albert, is conducting an environmental monitoring program in a residential area in the city's northeast. The monitoring in Riverview is part of the ongoing assessment of areas adjacent to known creosote contamination on the former sites of two wood treatment facilities, south and west of the residences. Results of the tests show the presence of creosote contamination on a few properties. It also shows that dioxins and furans are present in some areas.

This factsheet describes best management practices to transport and dispose of liquid domestic waste. The Interim Guide for Land Disposal of Sewage  is designed to provide an understanding of accepted sewage land application practices. Permit application and permission form are required.
