Victims Services |
Back
Victim/witness services help victims going
through the criminal justice process.
Services are provided by victim/witness
coordinators in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert and, in varying degrees, by community-based
police-affiliated programs around the province.
Services include:
- court orientation that includes information about the
courtroom setting, court processes and the roles of those in the criminal justice system;
- case information;
- prosecutor liaison;
- court accompaniment;
- safe, comfortable, private waiting rooms during court; and
- referrals.
These services help to ensure that people who
have suffered harm are well-informed and supported throughout the criminal justice process
and that other professionals in the criminal justice system are informed of their needs.
