Saskatchewan Industry and Resources (SIR) co-ordinates, develops, promotes and implements policies and programs of the Government of Saskatchewan that strengthen and diversify the Saskatchewan economy. SIR is the lead provincial government agency to spur economic growth and development of the province's resource sector, but is not the only department involved in economic development. The department has a twofold role: to offer direct programs and services to individuals and businesses, and to play a role in co-ordinating economic development activities among other departments and agencies.

Our Vision

An innovative, prosperous and sustainable economy supported by full participation and responsible energy and mineral development.

Our Mission

To grow and diversify the Saskatchewan economy by building on our existing strengths.

Our Mandate

To achieve full and responsible development of Saskatchewan's energy, mineral and forestry resources; to work with businesses to expand the Saskatchewan economy by promoting, co-ordinating and implementing policies, strategies and programs that encourage sustainable economic growth, and to optimize revenues to fund government programs and services.
