Two months after the Team Canada West trade mission, Metamend Software and Design Ltd. joined Team Canada once more, going this time to Russia and Germany. For Richard Zwicky, CEO of Metamend, the November, 2001 trip to Dallas and Los Angeles was very worthwhile--he signed two agreements and is negotiating three more--and that is why he is going again. "We got to meet the right people, with proper introductions, and all in one room," says Zwicky. "Being part of Team Canada is a tremendous privilege," he adds. "It is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our products and to let the world know that Victoria has a thriving high-technology community."

Metamend's search engine technology has been adopted throughout North America and Europe and as far away as Africa, India and Sri Lanka. Zwicky anticipates that meetings during Team Canada's stops in Moscow and Berlin will lead to concrete results in new areas that represent excellent growth potential for the company. "Wireless internet-related devices, such as Web-ready cell phones, are much more accepted and integrated in Europe," he says, "and our tools facilitate wireless usage by reducing the time it takes to find and arrive at a destination."

The company's innovative solutions, which drive qualified customers to business Web sites, are used worldwide by small and medium-sized businesses, corporations, independent Web site operators, hosting firms and e-commerce providers.
