Troika Potato International, Alberton, Prince Edward Island
www.dokagene.ru
Troika Potato International is the parent company of Moscow-based DokaGene Group, which
utilizes cutting-edge technology in the production of potatoes in Russia--the world's second largest
potato producing nation.
Through DokaGene Group, Troika provides Russia with seed potatoes and equipment for handling and
storing potatoes. The Group's expertise includes the development of hydroponic technology and
systems for the production of disease-free potato minitubers. It also trains farmers and agronomists, and
produces and markets a wide range of agricultural machinery, particularly potato handling equipment.
Virtually all of Troika's state-of-the-art equipment, which is manufactured by smaller companies in
Prince Edward Island, is exported to Russia. So why did the company, already well-established in that
country, participate in the Team Canada trade mission to Russia? "We wanted to raise the profile of
Troika in both Russia and Canada and to alert the various governments to the potential for
Russian/Canadian cooperation in agriculture and agri-food," says Allan Parker, Executive Vice
President of Troika. "We also wanted to meet potential investors from both countries and make them
more aware of the possibilities in the nascent Russian food- processing sector."
Parker is also Chairman of Food Park International Inc., a 170-hectare area located 80 kilometres
outside Moscow that caters to the food-processing industry, providing integrated support services to
tenants.
