Chantal Juillet at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw

The brilliant Canadian violinist, Chantal Juillet, gave a concert at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw on Friday, February 9. She played Igor Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto. She was accompanied by the Rzeszow Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jerzy Kosek.

Chantal Juillet won the hearts of Polish music lovers with her recordings in 1993 of both violin concertos by Karol Szymanowski.  Ms. Juillet also worked with Krzysztof Penderecki and gave the North American premiere of his 2nd Violin Concerto, Metamorphoses ... more

Prints by Edward Burtynsky at “Yours Gallery” in Warsaw.

Yours Gallery in Warsaw will show 40 prints by Edward Burtynsky, one of Canada’s most respected photographers (www.edwardbartynsky.com).  In his photographic work, Burtynsky captures a view of the earth altered by mankind.  His images of mining, quarrying, manufacturing, shipping, oil production and recycling are simultaneously beautiful, yet deeply shocking (www.ted.com) ... more 

Canadian Films at the Human Rights in Film Festival in Warsaw

Films by 3 Canadian directors have been featured at the Human Rights in Film Festival in Warsaw. 2 Canadian directors attended: Nancy Nicol and Peter Lom. The third director was Ric Esther Bienstock, author of a documentary called Sex slaves (2005) (about women trafficking). It premiered in Poland at the Krakow Film Festival last Spring.

After their film showing, directors answered questions from the audience.
