Canada in Tunisia

Tunisia is one of Canada’s oldest partners in Africa, and the oldest in the Maghreb (North Africa). The Canadian Embassy, the first in the Maghreb, was inaugurated in Tunis in 1966. Our mission is to represent Canadian interests in a variety of fields: political, economic, trade, cooperation, culture and education.

Democracy Promotion eDiscussion, January 22 - March 30, 2007: Building on Canada's long history of promoting democracy abroad, the Government of Canada is looking to identify ways in which Canada can play a more active role on the world stage in promoting democratic principles. Take part in this eDiscussion as a Canadian expatriate, or find out how your International University or College can participate.


Canada committed to global HIV/AIDS fight: Canada will provide $120 million to support global HIV/AIDS efforts focussing on four key areas: prevention, strengthening health systems, promoting women's empowerment, and promoting children's rights (December 1, 2006).


Canada announces over $40 million to help poor people in developing countries access formal financial services to improve their own economic and social well-being (November 12, 2006)

The Canadian Embassy organizes monthly meetings in order to give Canadians living in Tunisia the opportunity to get to know each other better. The next such meeting will take place on February 2007. The date and place will be communicated shortly.
