<p><font face="Courier">International Trade Minister Sergio Marchi today condemned the fraudulent use of
Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade letterhead by a group from
Winnipeg opposed to the Multilateral Agreement on Investment (MAI), which calls
itself CHOICES.</font></p>
<p><font face="Courier">The group issued a news release, using the department's letterhead, to advise
media about an alleged speech that Minister Marchi was to deliver in Winnipeg
this afternoon. The release included both actual and fictitious quotes,
attributed to the Minister, which were manipulated to show support for their </font></p>
<p><font face="Courier">anti-MAI demonstration.</font></p>
