Lau</strong> as Consul General to Guangzhou (People's Republic of China).</font></p> <p align="CENTER"><font face="Univers" size="+1">Biographical Note</font></p> <p><font face="Courier"><strong>Paul S.H. Lau</strong> (BA, University of Western Ontario, 1971; MBA, Queen's University, 1973) joined the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce in 1973. Early in his career, Mr. Lau served with the Royal Commission on the Northern Pipeline and was Chief Analyst with the Royal Commission on the Automotive Industry. He served in Beijing as a Trade Commissioner from 1979 to 1981. From 1981 to 1984, Mr. Lau was the Chief Negotiator for Japanese automotive investment projects, and from 1984 to 1987, was Manager of the Canada-U.S. Auto Pact. In 1987, he was named Director, Industrial Trade Policy, where he served concurrently with the negotiation teams for the Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and the North American Free Trade Agreement. From 1991 to 1995, Mr. Lau was seconded to Industry Canada as the Senior Trade Commissioner at the International Trade Centre in Vancouver. Most recently, he has served as Senior Trade Commissioner at the Canadian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. He is married to Shirley Chang and they have two daughters.
