Canadian Partnerships Developing effective responses to threats to human security requires research, consultation and public dialogue both in Canada and internationally. In Canada, the Human Security Program supports initiatives to encourage dialogue, including regular consultations with non-governmental organizations and a fellowship program which allows academics and practitioners to pursue research on human security issues. Peacebuilding and Human Security Dialogue Since 1997, DFAIT has been holding annual consultations with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and academics working in the area of peacebuilding and human security. These annual consultations, organized in cooperation with the Canadian Peacebuilding Coordinating Committee (CPCC), the Canadian Consortium on Human Security (CCHS) and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) bring practitioners together to discuss current and emerging issues in the field of peacebuilding and human security. These dialogues increase the coherence and effectiveness of Canada's contribution to international peace and security and facilitate the development of partnerships, knowledge-sharing and strengthen Canadian capacity. Canadian Peacebuilding Coordinating Committee The Human Security Program works closely with the Canadian Peacebuilding Coordinating Committee (CPCC), a network of Canadian non-governmental organizations (NGO), institutions, academics, and other individuals from a wide range of sectors. Through working groups and annual Peacebuilding consultations, the CPCC has facilitated dialogue between the government and NGO communities as well as amongst its own members.
Canadian Consortium on Human Security The Human Security Program funds the Canadian Consortium on Human Security (CCHS), a research network which seeks to facilitate the exchange of information on human security issues. A key component of the CCHS is its Human Security Fellowship Program. The fellowships foster research and projects that address issues related to the human security agenda. Human Security Fellowships
